I have a few stitching-related goals for the New Year. They are all basic and simple, some will be easier to achieve than others!! :-)
First, I want to stay away from buying any new stash until I use up some of the things I have already. Simple to understand, hard to do sometimes. I've been really proud of myself because I haven't purchased any new stash since September 2007!! That's definitely a record for me!
Second, I've joined several SALs on the STNA MB I belong to. It's a wonderful idea and I signed up for all of them! My goal for the New Year is to stay on track with all of these SALs all year long! The basic premise behind the SALs is to motivate each other to get more finishes in and dwindle down our current WIP and UFO piles at the same time! If we stick to the SALs, there are opportunities to gain entries into a drawing for new stash! I'm very excited about that! I've never been able to stick to a rotation plan by myself. I'm hoping these SALs will help me do that so I can get some things done! I'm a little overwhelmed by my stitching obligations right now, so I'm hoping these things can allow me to have more free stitching time in the long run. I'd love to stitch some things for myself, as well as do some charity stitching! I haven't done much charity stitching in the last 3 years and I would love to get back into it! There are so many worthy causes to stitch for. It's a shame I can't say no to everything else to make more time for them.
Basically as far as I know now the SAL schedule is:
First weekend of the month we work on a UFO; mine needless to say is the Barnyard Kitties kit for my friend
Second Weekend of the month we work on an Obligation piece; I chose A Year Full of Happy by Sam Sarah Design Studios
Fourth Weekend of the month we work on anything we want; this is a freebie SAL weekend so I'll work on whatever pieces still need to be finished
I'm planning on posting here with progress pics both before and after the SAL weekends to mark my progress! I'm hoping it will motivate me to keep going if I can see how far I've gotten since the previous months SALs. We'll see though!
Keep your fingers crossed for me so that I can keep up-to-date and on track with the SALs. I'm excited and also a little nervous too! :-)
